About my

Trisomy-X-syndrome

(also called as: Triple-X-syndrome)

  • In May 2010, when I was 39 years old, the 'Trisomy-X-syndrome' was found accidentally

  • I got a chromosome test after a few miscarriages (a cause for the miscarriages wasn't found)

  • The Trisomy X syndrome means: having 3 X-chromosomes in stead of the "normal" 2 X-chromosomes, as a woman

  • I have learned to cope with some of the symptoms, and am still learning, every day, both about myself and about the Trisomy X syndrome

  • Trisomy-X-syndrome causes both physical and mental complaints

Mental symptoms

  • I am hypersensitive to stress, I experience an event intensely and often need a lot of time to process an experience

  • I am often insecure and then feel restless or anxious (for no apparent reason)

  • I can suddenly lose track

  • I am hypersensitive to stress and too many impressions at the same time

  • I experience an event intensely and often need a lot of time to process (this seems a bit like high sensitivity)

  • I often feel the tendency to hyperventilate

  • I often get tired quickly

  • I can suddenly feel very angry

  • I often have trouble processing busy images or a situation where serveral things are happening

  • I often get sad quickly

  • I often search for confirmation, to know that it is okay what I am doing or that I know that someone still likes me

Physical symptoms

  • I am hypersensitive / allergic to several things, for example: dust, perfume, chemical additives, nuts, trees, grasses, latex, chromium, nickel and histamine

  • As a child, I already had bad teeth, and still I have to take very good care of my teeth

  • From the age of 13 until 45, I suffered a lot from my menstrual period (with stomach pain, cramps and a lot of blood loss) and nowadays from hormonal complaints (including headaches)

  • I have long arms and legs, my height is 1.78m

  • I am familiair with psychosomatic complaints that seems like fibromyalgia (several bone- and joint complaints to pains in my whole body, stings and nerve pain)

  • An Orthopedist told me recently that I have to deal with the following diagnoses:
    • cartilage hypersensitivity
    • fat pad impingement in both knees
    • a flap tear under my right kneecap after trauma (being wounded after a fall)
    • Note: these joint complaints may not have to do anything with Trisomy-X-syndrome right away, but because of the fact this syndrome is not very well-known, the Orthopedist can't guarantee that I will recover well or quickly from surgery
